Anyone with Original Characters, feel free to give me advice on this, if you've ever had a similar problem and actually managed to overcome it. I'd appreciate it.

I think I've pretty much lost my touch with my own characters, and now I'm kinda struggling to get back in to drawing them. I still feel like I can't get a grasp of them, it's like they're on permanent vacation at sunny Mexico and too stubborn to come back. Those bastards.

Any advices? How to get back in to drawing them and such.

Damn, drawing used to be fun.

That's because your style has completely changed. Don't drive yourself nuts trying to step backward. Instead, have some fun adapting them to your new design sensibilities.

I used to let my watchers ask a few questions for my characters and draw these little comics every once in a while where they respond to them. As far as character development goes, it was a fun experiment, and it could work for you too.

Yeah, I've been thinking it's because of the style change.
Adapting them in to new style is kinda hard, although a must, I think. Like when I try to draw someone in a new style, it doesn't even feel like the same character. Gaaah.
But thanks. I should try to have more fun with it.

Hmm, I'll think about it. I'm just never really sure how much my watchers really "care" for the characters, enough to ask questions and stuff.
Cheers. :B

Yeah, sometimes the characters turn out very different, but what you have to realize is that it's ok, and often for the best. Allow yourself to throw stuff at the wall and see what sticks. I know you've lived with these characters forever, but most other people haven't. Be not afraid.

I agree with what Kyle said, just start doodling away, nothing to be a finished piece, maybe draw a few sequences of them, you know them antway already, just set the situations and watch them react to them.

Try just simple doodling, or even work on like drawing different expressions that your characters do, sometimes scribble sketching you characters work. Even a simplistic concept like your characters drinking coffee in a cold setting. Overall, just have fun with it. That's what I do with my characters when I don't know what to really do with them sometimes.

I love everyone equally, I just love women a little bit more because they have boobs. :3c

There were a couple of times this happened to me. I created a new character which would purposefully conflict with the one who was on the perma-vacation. Sometimes, that got the creative juices flowing. If not, I would just make new characters, the old ones can stay stubborn and on their vacation, eventually, they come crawling back.

I've got the same problem with my characters, they've ven sorta left behind as my style's changed/developed. Recently I've been trying to draw the fellas adapted to my new style and quite frankly, I've had a blast : D I'm just trying to revamp their design a little and so forth, no storyline quite just yet. They're just so dear to me and I have strong faith they'll come in handy someday.
